Information for Young People

What we do:

Nestlings Care offers you an opportunity to live in the community, in a homely environment that can give you support when you need it. We want to help you to develop independence in a way that gives you chances to try new things at a pace that you feel comfortable with.

We want to work with you towards agreed goals in your life, providing enough support to help you try activities so that you feel you have achieved things you want.  This might include supporting you with education, vocational training and work placements.

Our team will talk to you to understand your difficulties and ways of coping with them.   Whenever decisions are made about your care, we ask for and include your views and your family’s.

What to expect:

We will be asked to come and see you by people who are already caring for you, this might be your social worker or care co-ordinator.  When we visit for the first time, you will be able to ask any questions you want and we will talk so that we can begin to get to know you.  If you and the people involved in your care think we can help, we will work together to make a plan for you to come and stay with us.  You might visit us over a number of weeks so that we can start to get to know each other.

When you come to stay with us, you will meet members of the team who will be involved with you in different ways.  These people will include:

  • A Nestlings Case Manager, who will have been involved in your care from the beginning, will meet with you regularly to talk about any concerns you have, your wishes, treatment and when meetings have been planned.
  • An Advocate who is not employed by Nestlings so that you have an independent person to support you to represent your views.
  • A number of different Professionals, who can provide information and support you to cope with mental health problems. You may have already worked with Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Psychiatrists and Psychologists and know what you want help with. If working with Professionals like this is new for you, each one will introduce themselves and you can work together to find out how they can help you.
